A FRIENDLY TALK
Back to Early Christian Rome with John Williams
Tuesday 18 March 2025, 10:30-11:30 in the Clagett Auditorium
Last March, we went 'Off the Beaten Track in Early Christian Rome' with speaker, Dr John Williams.
This time, we will examine further the centuries immediately before and after the conversion of the Emperor Constantine to Christianity in the early 300s AD. We will look at some better and some less well-known churches, sites and monuments, and their messages, sometimes hidden in plain sight. John will explore how an Imperial Rome on the wane, started on the road to becoming such a major centre of the Christian world.
Dr Williams, a Trustee of The Friends of Canterbury Cathedral, was formerly County Archaeologist and Head of Heritage Conservation at Kent County Council.
Tickets: £10 Friends of Canterbury Cathedral, £15 non-members. Includes tea and coffee.
This event is supported by The Friends of Canterbury Cathedral (Registered Charity No 256575).
