Rules of Engagement on Social Media

Welcome to Canterbury Cathedral's online community!
Through our social media accounts, we aim to share a range of content representing and celebrating Cathedral life, worship, history and more with our online audiences.
Social media is a great tool for self expression and bringing people together through shared experiences, interests and conversation, and we encourage thoughtful engagement and healthy debate on all our accounts.
To help everyone have the best possible experience when interacting with our social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram and X) and YouTube, we have created these rules of engagement. By interacting with any of these accounts, you agree to be bound by these rules.
Rules and restrictions
- Stay safe: Please do not share personal or private information.
- Be relevant: Self-promotion, spam, phishing, irrelevant messages and links are not allowed.
- Treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates are allowed, but impoliteness or unkindness is not.
- Zero tolerance on harassment: Personal attacks, trolling, abuse, bullying of any kind and degrading comments about race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity, or any other discrimination will not be tolerated. Explicit, rude or aggressive content will not be tolerated.
Violation of these terms may result in your comments or messages being removed and/or your account being blocked by the Cathedral.

We encourage everyone to:
