Whether you want to enjoy the sun, or escape the heat, there's something for everyone this summer, at Canterbury Cathedral!
Discover England's First Cathedral, join us for FREE* activities and family tours, explore the gardens and picnic in the Precincts, enjoy outdoor theatre performances, or cool down in the Crypt.
And don't forget, your Cathedral admission ticket is valid for 12 months, meaning you can re-visit the Cathedral as often as you want in that time at no extra cost! And KIDS GO FREE!**

Make your own Lavender Bag
Make your very own beautiful, fragrant lavender bag to take home with you.
Enjoy the serene atmosphere of the Cathedral, as you use your sewing skills to make a miniature bag, and fill it with dried lavender from the Cathedral's gardens.
It's a perfect way to learn a new skill and take home a lovely Cathedral keepsake.

Green Men and Grotesque Mask Making
Make fun masks inspired by the Green Men and Grotesques you can see around the Cathedral.
Solve stained glass puzzles, and colour in your own cards to take home with you, inspired by the windows in the Cathedral.

Make your own Sundial
Did you know, that people have been using the sun to tell time for thousands of years!
Learn how they did it, and make your own working sundial, inspired by the one in our stained glass window.
It's a fun and educational project for the whole family!
On your visit, you can also see the 'portable' Saxon sundial, discovered in the cloisters in 1938, in the Cathedral's Water Tower Exhibition.

FREE* Family Tours
Hear stories of Becket and the Black Prince, Monks and Miracles, Tombs and Towers.
These tours are aimed at children aged 6 - 13 but are suitable for the whole family to enjoy!
Family Tours last 45 minutes, and pre-booking is suggested, as spaces are limited.
