Tickets can be booked online or are available to buy on the day at our Visitor Centre.

By accessing the grounds or buying a Canterbury Cathedral admission ticket, you agree to be bound by our Terms and Conditions of Entry.

 

It is always free to attend a service of worship or come into the Cathedral to pray.

Monday to Saturday 09.00 - 17.00 (last admission at 16.00)

Sunday 11.30* - 17.00 (last admission at 16.00)
*Between 11.30-12.30, access is available to the Cathedral grounds and Shop only. The Cathedral church opens at 12.30.

Opening times are subject to change. Occasionally, areas of the Cathedral may be closed to visiting, due to services, special events or for conservation work to be carried out.

  • live within 4 miles of Bell Harry tower, including within The Precincts
  • are a member of the Cathedral Congregation
  • are immediate family of a Cathedral staff member
  • are a member of any church in the diocese (on the parish electoral roll or equivalent)

The Cathedral and Precincts are huge so, even when parts of the Cathedral are closed for visiting, there will be plenty for you to explore.

The Crypt will be closed for a funeral until 13:00 today. The rest of the Cathedral remains open and tickets for visiting can be purchased online or on arrival at our Visitor Centre. 

 

Sunday 5th - The Eastern Crypt 

The Eastern Crypt will be closed today for a Baptism service. The rest of the Cathedral remains open for visiting. Tickets for visiting can be purchased online or on arrival at our Visitor Centre.

 

Sunday 12th - The Nave

The Nave will be closed from 15:30 today to prepare for the Epiphany Carol Service. The rest of the Cathedral remains open for visiting. Tickets for visiting can be purchased online or on arrival at our Visitor Centre.

 

Monday 13th - The Cathedral 

The Cathedral will be closed all day for visiting today. We are open for services only. Please see the Services webpage for details. 

 

Tuesday 14th - The Cathedral

Thursday 30th - The Nave, Martyrdom, South Transept, and Chapter House

The Nave, Martyrdom and South West Transept will be closed today for Graduation services. The rest of the Cathedral remains open. Tickets for visiting can be purchased online or on arrival at our Visitor Centre.

The Centre Nave and North Nave Aisle will be roped off today. The Cathedral remains open and tickets for visiting visiting can be purchased online or on arrival at our Visitor Centre. 

The Chapter House will be closed all day today. The rest of the Cathedral remains open and tickets for visiting can be purchased online or on arrival at our Visitor Centre. 

 

Wednesday 12th - The Chapter House

Tuesday 25th - The Cathedral

There will be organ tuning today, which does not pose a closure, but can be audibly disruptive to visitors. If you would like to borrow some ear defenders, please ask at our Visitor Centre when you arrive. 

 

Thursday 27th - The Nave, Martyrdom, South Transept, Quire,Trinity Chapel, and The Chapter House

The Nave, Martyrdom, and South Transept will be closed until 13:00 today for the 11:00 Consecration services. The Cathedral remains open and tickets for visiting can be purchased online or on arrival at our Visitor Centre. 

The Quire and Trinity Chapel will be closed from 13:00 today for the 14:30 Consecration service. The Cathedral remains open and tickets for visiting can be purchased online or on arrival at our Visitor Centre.
